Adrian San Miguel del Castillo, more commonly known as Adrian, this imposing 6'3 shot-stopper spent virtually his entire earlier career with his hometown club. After joining Real Betis at the age of ten, Adrian started his professional career with the club's C team in the Andalusia Premier Division. He then made more than 70 appearances for Betis B in the Segunda Division B Group 4, the regional third tier of Spanish football.
Adrian was loaned out to Segunda Division B clubs SD Alcala in 2008 and Andalusia Premier division club CD Utrera in 2009 before being promoted to the Betis senior squad in 2011/12 as third choice behind the experienced Casto and Fabri.
When Casto was sent-off at Malaga in September 2012, Adrian stepped off the bench and never looked back. Adrian's athleticism helped Betis to achieve a number of superb victories including clean sheets in home wins over Real Madrid, Malaga, Valencia and Real Sociedad. Special acclaim must be awarded to his Man of the Match performance in the 1-0 home victory over Real Madrid in November 2012.
The 26-year-old joined West Ham United on a free transfer on 1 July 2013 following the expiration of his contract with Primera Division side. He has signed an initial three-year deal, with the Club having an option to extend this for a further two seasons.
Adrian made his West Ham United debut in the 2-1 Capital One Cup win over Cheltenham Town on 27 August 2013. The shot-stopper made his Barclays Premier League debut at Manchester United in a 3-1 defeat three days later. Kept his first clean sheet in the top flight in the 2-0 win at Cardiff City on 11 January 2014 and picked up the Hammers' Player of the Month for January and February. A further hat-trick of awards at the end season followed; being named Hammers ‘Signing of the Season’ as well as picking up the ‘Best Individual Performance’ prize for Chelsea away, and ‘Best Save’, for his fingertip effort from Oscar in the same game.
Was red carded for handling outside the box in the 0-0 draw at Southampton on 11 February 2015, his suspension was overturned and was back in the team three days later for the FA Cup tie at West Bromwich Albion. The following campaign he was not so lucky, receiving a straight red card in added time at the end of West Ham’s 1-2 home loss to Leicester City on 15 August 2015. In October 2015, he signed a two-year contract with the option of a further two years.
In August 2016 the West Ham keeper received his first call-up to the senior Spain squad by new manager Jelen Lopetegui. With the signing of Lukasz Fabianski in June 2018 and despite a three-year contract offer the keeper was released at the end of the 2018/19 season, over six campaigns he made 150 appearances.
On 5 August 2019, it was announced that Adrian had signed for Liverpool on a free transfer. Adrian was always destined to be the Anfield reserve keeper, but even so, over five seasons he picked up a few trophies along the way in his 14 appearances for The Reds.
On 8 July 2024, he returned to Real Betis on a free transfer, signing a two-year contract.

DIEGO POYET

Born: 8 April 1995, Zaragoza, Spain
Signed: Charlton Athletic
Date: 8 July 2014
Fee: Undisclosed compensation
Debut: 23 August 2014, Crystal Palace (A)
Last game: 6 August 2015, FC Astra Giurgiu (A)
Appearances: 5/5
Goals: 0
International: Uruguay Under-20 (10 caps)
Released: 31 August 2016
Next club: Godoy Cruz (Argentina)
Date: 7 February 2017

Diego Poyet was born in Zaragoza, Spain in 1995, where his father Gus was playing for the city's Primera Division club. He moved to Montevideo in Uruguay with his family as a young child before returning to England at the age of ten when Gus signed for Chelsea, and spent the vast majority of his life living in England. An industrious midfielder blessed with an impressive range of passing, Poyet signed for Charlton as an eleven-year-old before coming through the Academy ranks at The Valley.
Poyet's promise was recognised at international level as early as October 2010, when he was handed an England U16 debut in a Victory Shield meeting with Wales - a match which saw him captained by new West Ham team-mate Leo Chambers. The following year, he lined up alongside Manchester United and England left-back Luke Shaw as the Young Lions won the Montaigu Tournament in France. After being capped six times by England at U17 level, Poyet burst into the Charlton first-team in January 2014, appearing as a substitute in an FA Cup third-round victory over Oxford United.
His full league debut came a fortnight later at Wigan Athletic and became a mainstay in the Charlton side for the remainder of the 2013/14 campaign, contributing 23 appearances as the Addicks' successfully battled against relegation with a series of ‘Man of the Match’ performances which earned him the club's Player of the Year award.
Diego Poyet joined West Ham United on a four-year deal on 8 July 2014, following the expiry of his contract at Charlton Athletic for an undisclosed compensation fee. The tenacious midfielder made his his Barclays Premier League debut at a sub in the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on 23 August 2014. Started for the first time three days later in the Capital One Cup against Sheffield United and made his first top flight start at Manchester United on 27 September 2014.
Poyet joined Huddersfield Town on a one month loan on 7 November 2014 and returned to the West Ham team off the bench in the 1-1 draw at Everton in the FA Cup on 6 January.
He may have been born in Spain and raised in England, however, the midfielder had no doubts about which country he calls home and in March 2015, he changed his international allegiance to Uruguay and going on the represent them at the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
On 19 August 2015 he signed a season-long loan with Championship side MK Dons, however, his playing time was restricted and the loan was terminated in January 2016.
West Ham United and Diego Poyet agreed to terminate the midfielder’s contract by mutual consent. The 21-year-old departs on 31 August 2016, having made ten appearances in all competitions in his two years in east London.
Following his release he signed for Argentinian side Godoy Cruz on February 2017. The move turned out to be a disaster, in Argentina you can only have four foreign players at any one time, and he was the fifth. A Uruguayan striker was due to leave the the club the day after Poyet signed, but failed his medical, which left Poyet as an unregistered player.
After six-months in the wilderness he joined Cypriot First Division side Pafos where he featured in and out of the starting line-up throughout the 2017/18 season and left at the end of the campaign. After two years without a club, he retired from professional football. In February 2022, he was appointed as assistant manager to the Greek national team working alongside his father who was manager and later followed his father to South Korean side Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC during the following season.

CARL JENKINSON

Born: 8 February 1992, Harlow
Signed: Arsenal (loan)
Date: 31 July 2014
Debut: 15 September 2014, Hull City (A)
Last game: 23 January 2016,
Manchester City (H)
Appearances: 49/10
West Ham United Goals: 2

Carl Jenkinson began his career at Charlton Athletic as a seven-year-old, and took up a scholarship in 2008. He joined Welling United on work experience terms in January 2010, and made ten league appearances for the Conference South side.
Returning to the Addicts, he signed his first professional contract in 2010, and given his Footbal League debut by manager Chris Powell on 15 February 2011 and cemented his place in the side for the remainder of the 2010/11 season before being snapped up by Arsenal at the age of 19 in June 2011.
Jenkinson was given an early chance to impress at the Emirates Stadium, making his competitive debut in a UEFA Champions League qualifier against Udinese in August 2011, and scored his first goal in senior football in a 2-0 victory over Norwich City on the final day of the 2013/14 season.
Internationally, he played at age-group level both for England and Finland - the country of his mother's birth. However, in 2012 he decided to commit his international future to England, and was rewarded with fourteen caps with the Under-21s, and one full England cap against Sweden on 14 November 2012, having previously turned out 5 times for Finland.
West Ham United sealed the full-backs season-long loan signing from north London Arsenal on 31 July 2014. The 22-year-old opted to join the Hammers after the club beat off competition from several of their Barclays Premier League rivals to secure his services. Jenkinson made his West Ham United debut from the bench on 15 September 2014 in a 2-2 draw at Hull City. Started for the first time as the Hammers defeated Queens Park Rangers on 5 October 2014 and quickly established himself as the team’s first-choice right-back with his consistent displays and good form. Jenkinson rejoined the Gunners at the end of the season when his loan period expired.
However, after signing a new long-term contract with Arsenal, Jenkinson was allowed to returned to east London on 14 July 2015 for another season-long loan, but found his second spell more eventful. On 15 August, he played the final moments of a 2-1 home defeat to Leicester City in goal when goalkeeper Adrian had been sent off with no substitutions remaining, a week later we was sent off in the 3-4 home defeat to AFC Bournemouth. On the 3 October he scored the first of his two Hammers goals in the 2-2 away draw with Sunderland, his second goal also away, against Crystal Palace in a 3-1 win.
On 23 January 2016 he suffered a significant knee injury against Manchester City and on 7 March his loan period was terminated early and returned to parent club Arsenal for long term treatment.
In 2017 he joined Birmingham City again on a loan deal before finally signing a permanent deal with Nottingham Forest in August 2019. Another loan saw him fly to the other side of the world to play for Melbourne City and then Australian side Newcastle Jets. Returning to England the right-back currently plays for EFL League Two side Bromley.

Signed: Olympique de Marseille (France)
Date: 1 September 2014
Fee: Undisclosed
Debut: 15 September 2014, Hull City (A)
Last game: 23 July 2015, Birkikara (A)
Appearances: 19/13
Goals: 3
Contract terminated: 6 October 2015

Born in Nice, Morgan Amalfitano came through the same AS Cannes academy that produced France internationals Zinedine Zidane, Patrick Vieira and Gael Clichy. At 18, he moved to Sedan, where he began his professional career in 2003. In five seasons, he totalled 137 appearances before moving to Lorient in the summer of 2008. Amalfitano discovered his goalscoring touch in Brittany, netting 15 goals in 121 games in all competitions and attracting the attention of some of France's biggest clubs.
The summer of 2011 saw Marseille snap him up on a free transfer and his debut for the club saw him win the Champions' Trophy as Marseille defeated Ligue 1 champions Lille 5-4 in Morocco. The 2011/12 season also ended with a trophy with a 1-0 extra-time victory over Lyon in the French League Cup final. The same campaign saw Amalfitano win his first cap for France in a 2-1 friendly victory over Germany.
The 2013/14 campaign saw the midfielder move to The Hawthorns with West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan. Amalfitano capped an impressive first season in English football with an outstanding individual goal in West Brom's 2-1 victory at Manchester United, and scored four goals in 31 appearances.
The 29-year-old French international, who can play in a variety of midfield roles, linked up with West Ham United from French Ligue 1 club Olympique de Marseille on a permanent deal on transfer deadline day 1 September 2014 for an undisclosed fee.
Amalfitano made his Hammers debut on 15 September 2014 in the 2-2 draw at Hull City. Scored his first goal for the Club five days later, notching the third in a 3-1 win over Liverpool and added to his tally against Manchester City and Hull City, both at the Boleyn Ground.
The midfielder was sent off as West Ham were knocked out of the FA Cup at West Bromwich Albion on 14 February 2015 and a month later signed a new, two-year contract with the Claret and Blue side which would keep him at the club until the end of the 2016/17 season.
However, in August 2015, he was disciplined for a breach of club rules by new manager, Slaven Bilic and was banned from the first-team squad and ordered to train with the Under-21 team. On 6 October 2015, Amalfitano left West Ham by mutual consent. On 7 January 2016, he joined French side Lille, but terminated his contract on the final day of the 2016/17 winter transfer window to join Stade Rennais.

NENE (Anderson Luis de Carvalho)

Born: 19 July 1981, Jundial, Brazil
Signed: Al-Gharafa Sperts Club (Qatar)
Date: 18 February 2015
Debut: Crystal Palace
Date: 28 February 2015
Career: 2014/15
Appearances: 8
Goals: 0
Transferred: Vasco da Gama (Brazil)
Date: 30 June 2015
Born in Jundiaí in the state of São Paulo, Nenê began his career by scoring 26 goals in just 32 league games for local club Paulista. His form there saw him attract the attention of Brazil's biggest clubs, earning moves first to Palmeiras and then Pele's old side Santos. At the age of 22, Nenê began a ten-year stay in Europe in 2003, when he joined Spanish outfit Mallorca for a season.
That was followed by two years with Alaves, who he helped to win promotion to La Liga in 2005. Nenê spent the 2006/07 season with Celta de Vigo, scoring eight times, including strikes against Real Madrid and Barcelona, leading to a move to French club Monaco. There, he won Player of the Year honours in 2008 before spending a season back in Spain on loan at Espanyol. After scoring 14 goals for Monaco in 2009/10, Nenê moved to the French capital, where he excelled in the colours of PSG. He netted another 14 times in 2010/11 before topping the French Ligue 1 scoring charts with 21 goals the following season, while also registering eleven assists with his outstanding delivery and set plays. While Nenê's form in a PSG shirt saw him coveted by many of Europe's top clubs, he opted to try a new challenge in the Middle East by signing for Al-Gharafa in the Qatar Stars League in January 2013. There, he continued his prolific ways with 53 appearances and 22 goals.
The Brazilian forward joined the Hammers on 18 February 2015 until the end of season, where he is relishing his first crack at the English Barclays Premier League. However, the South American made just 8 substitute appearances for the Hammers before moving back to his homeland with the Rio de Janerio side Vasco da Gama.
Later played for Sao Paulo, Fluminense, before returning to Vasco.
