Our Juniors have been short of competitive fixtures this season, and after winning on the opening day, faced a blank schedule for severaI weeks. However, we were able to bring forward a fixture against near-neighbours Orient, and the Young Hammers gained a convincing 5-1 win over our east London opponents at Chadwell Heath.

A 3-1 victory over Watford at Chadwell Heath put our Juniors in an almost unassailable position to qualify for the Semi-Final play-offs, as it is unlikely that they will now finish out of the top four. This latest win brought their points total to twelve out of a possible 14, and was comfortably gained after Kim Russell had given the Hammers the lead in the fourth minute. Malcolm Hill and Richard Broomfield were our other scorers.

Our Juniors had a shock reverse in the qualifying group on Dec. 2, losing 1-2 against bottom-of-the-table Gillingham Juniors at the Garrison Ground. Shots which hit the woodwork might easily have put the score in our favour, but the " near misses " made all the difference.

This Semi-Final tie at Upton Park on 2 April was an excellent game, and both XI's provided top-rate soccer. Chelsea Juniors had several opportunities to score in the first half, but our youngsters held firm and got more into the game after the interval. The encounter went to extra-time after a scoreless 90 minutes, and in the second half of this Marios Achilleos got the goal that put us into the Final.
John Domfe made a return in this game after some weeks absence through injury, but he was substituted when the extra period became necessary. His deputy was Tony Burdon.
