21 August 1971

Day, Mumford, Mills, Dent, Batchelor, Webb, Powell, Savva, Hayes, Dallender, Stevens

Our Juniors did not have a very good start to their Division II Cup schedule, our all-amateur line-up being defeated 3-0 by Spurs Juniors at Cheshunt. The North Londoners were good value for their win.

28 August 1971

Pye, Russell K. (Russell G.), Webb, Clarke, Dent, Hayes, Duke, Forbes, Dallender, Mason, Stevens

Our Juniors had plenty of opportunities to win their home game against Charlton Athletic Juniors, and could have easily added to their one-goal interval margin to ensure themselves of the points. However, the Young Hammers allowed the Valiants to recover their composure in the second half, and the South Londoners took advantage of this to net twice and win by 2-1.

4 September 1971

Pye, Mumford, Batchelor, Mason, Russell, Webb, Dallender, Powell (Marney), Mann, Hart, Stevens

We are still seeking our first point in this tourney, and the Hammers' all-amateur line-ups have found the going pretty hard so far. In last Saturday's game the Chelsea Juniors proved far too strong for them, the Young Blues netting three times without reply. However, we have a number of promising lads, and they are benefiting from the experience.

CRYSTAL PALACE : SECL Div II Cup
Banstead
0 - 1
11 September 1971

Pye, Hayes, Mills, Forbes, Russell, Batchelor, Dallender, Hart, Marney, Bartlett, Aggio

Although Crystal Palace Juniors included eight apprentices in their side they were only able to register once against ore all-ameteur XI at Banstead. However, this was sufficient to gain the points, the tragedy being that it was a second-half "own goal" to turn the game in their favour. Goalkeeper John Pye and Kim Russell were the pick of our defence, and Ken Marney had a good game as one of our strikers.

ORIENT : SECL Div II Cup

18 September 1971

Pye, Mason, Mills, Mumford, Batchelor, Sims, Dallender, Powell, Smith M., Hart, Marney

Orient went to the top of the table by inflicting a 5-1 defeat on us at Chadwell Heath. It was another disappointment, and we have yet to secure a point after five games.

The Juniors gained their first point of the season after fighting back to force a 1-1 draw against Gillingham Juniors. at the Garrison Ground. The home side were in the lead at half-time, but Les Aggio got a goal 20 minutes from the end and the Kent youngsters had a hard job to prevent us clinching victory. Kirn Russell, Steve Sims and Kevin Marney were our best performers.

Our Juniors gained their first win of the season in this competition when they defeated Crystal Palace Juniors at Chadwell Heath. It was a good performance, but they left it very late in the game before settling the issue, scoring goals in the 80th, 84th and 87th minutes to gain a 3-1 margin afetr a goalless first-half.

There has been a temporary halt in the League Cup qualifying league, and we continued with Division 2 fixtures.

Graham Parker found the net to put us in the lead 25 minutes after the start against Crystal Palace at Chadwell Heath, but that more-or-less ended our morning's enjoyment. The Young Glaziers levelled, and then put on the pressure to get three more in the second half and win by a comfortable 4-1
