Our Reserves spent a pleasant afternoon at Colchester, winning the friendly game with the United by 4-2. It was an interesting match to watch, and our forwards shared the goals as evenly as possible, Wright, Tucker, Travis and R. Brown each getting one. The exception was young Jim Barrett, who had his first outing in our colours this season; he played at outside-right, and acquitted himself well.

We arranged a friendly game for our Reserves against Cheltenham Town, and our lads recorded their third successive nap-hand with a 5-0 victory, With the exception of Tadman 9ex-Charlton Athletic) who was injured, the Glocestershire club fielded their full Southern League side, which inluded several former Football League stars. The home supporters were loud in the praise of the Hammers who gave, in their opinion, the best exhibition of soccer seen there this season. Don Travis foured four good goals Ken Tucker netted the other after beating three opponents.

We were succesful in arranging a friendly against Snowdown Colliery, which is about eight miles from Canterbury. The Colliers are members of the Kent League, but their spirited show was unavailling against the brilliance of our lads who won by five clear goals.

An appreciative attendance saw some keen football by our Junior XI and their opponents - Tottenham Hotspur Juniors. The result was 2-3 in the visitors' favour, but we saw enough of our young Hammers to give us hope of a bright future for them in our colours.

Fielding an experimental side, with Wilson, normally a centre-forward at centre-half, Parker on the left wing, and introducing newcomer Lloyd on the right, West Ham Reserves were good value for their win in this friendly at Griffin Park.
Brentford were first to score when, 20 minutes after the start, a high swirling corner kick found Taylor unsighted, and the ball finished in the back of the net. Three minutes later West Ham were on terms when Farrell slipped an excellent ground pass through for Parker to run in and equalise. After the interval the Hammers decided matters when, after a great shot from Proudlock had hit the crossbar, Wright was on the spot to promptly bang back from the rebound.
