A crowd of about 8,000 supporters saw West Ham beaten by Tottenham Hotspurs by 4-2. The Spurs' well deserved their victory, the home side failed to impress. Their movements were uncertain, and they indulged in far too much useless kicking. Within five minutes of the start of the game the Spurs took the lead with a beautiful goal. Bellamy cleverly drew the defence and then sent across a perfect carpet pass to Roberts who beat Tate with a beautiful shot from just outside the penalty area. The Hammers continued to press, and the Spurs had several lucky escapes. Once Campbell got the ball across to Norris, but the inside right was knocked off the ball before he had a chance to shoot. The Hammers drew level after about ten minutes play. Norris shot through from a corner, the ball striking the underside of the crossbar, and rebounding into the net.
The Spurs equalised after 25 minutes of the second half. Armstrong shot through from a centre by Barnett. Tait partially stopped the ball but could not prevent it from entering the net. Payne made a fine attempt to regain the lead for the Hammers. he took a nice pass from Norris and raced round Reddish, but Smith was able to smother his shot.
Five minutes later Spurs went ahead with another excellent goal. Roberts took a nice pass and headed to Evans who went through to score with a beautiful shot. The visitors were playing much better football than the Hammers, and just before the end went further ahead. Roberts got the ball out to Barrett, and the right winger sent over a perfect centre, from which Armstrong scored with a lovely shot.

The Rangers did not have the best of fortune in this London Combination game at Shepherd's Bush. For the greater part of the first half they had most of the play, and deserved to have scored on more than one occasion.
Just before the interval they lost Arrowsmith, who had to have three stiches in his right knee, the result of falling on a stone or piece of glass. Rutherford obtained a lucky goal for the Hammers soon after the interval, and Campbell added a second. The Rangers however, made a gallant fight in the closing stages, and Kellard reduced the arrears.

Five minutes from the start, a nice centre by Campbell was headed from Moore to Loughlin into the net to put West Ham 1-0 up. Twenty minutes later Robson got the second goal with a long drive. The third came when th Millwall goalkeeper harrassed by Loghlin, was penalised for carrying, the ball being scrambled into the net by Loughlin from a free kick. The fourth goal went to Robson just before half time.
Ten minutes from the re-start, Campbell scored a dainty goal, with a beautiful first timer from a corner kick. Loughlin got the sixth at a second attempt; and a few minutes later he scored his seventh by putting the finishing touch to a lively movement, which left six men spread-eagled in front of goal when the ball entered the nt. Just before time, Payne nicely headed in the eighth and final goal from a centre by Campbell.
Nearly all through the second half the Hammers were playing one man short, as Smailes, right half, received a kick on one of his ankles which kept him hobbling about on the right wing for a time, and evenutually he had to go off the field for attention.
Play was just as much in favour of the Hammers as the tall score indicates. They over-ran the Millwall defence, and except for a short period when the Hammers were put a little "out of gear" by the injury to Smailes, the Millwall keeper had a gruelling time. James. their left half, and Collins at centre half played well for Millwall, but perhaps their best player was Hawkins, who all through showed a certain liveliness on the right wing.
