1925-26 London Combination
HELP WANTED:
This is one of the few campaigns that there is little or no information regarding team line-ups, due to lost records during the Second World War. British Library newspaper archives have not been much help in filling the gaps.
Any help appreciated, contact via the email address on the front page. Thank you.....

West Ham United Reserves beat Crystal Palace Reserves in a London Combination match at Upton Park on Saturday. Campbell scored first for the Hammers from a penalty kick, and Thompson added a second after the interval.
The Palace played up and Hoddinott scored a beautiful goal. Keenan later equalised and a ding-dong struggle ensued for the winning goal, which was scored just before the close by Edwards, the West Ham outside right, with a beautiful shot.

Hammers were soon down to 10-men when Surtees was crocked. Kane gave a good display in goal and Weale was prominent until injured. Williams gave the home side the lead but in the 35th minute Handley levelled.

West Ham scored first early in the game. Young swung a long centre into the Chelsea goalmouth and Fletcher deftly headed into the net. From the stand Fletcher appeared to ne offside. The referee, however, allowed the goal. Chelsea's equaliser was not debatable in the same way, but Ball, the scorer, was obviously astonished at the success with which a rather casual kick in the direction of the West ham goal was rewarded.
The ball bounced in front of Kane, and rising surprisingly high, escaped his outstretched hands, hit the underside of the crossbar, and went into the net. This happened late in the game, and Chelsea had never looked likely to equalise.
