There were but few spectators at Cobbold Road to see West Ham defeat Willesden Town by 5 goals to 2.. The game was lost and won in the opening ten minutes, when the Hammers ran the home side off their feet and obtained a lead of 4 goals to 1. Thereafter Willsden improved, but their opponents' lead was too big and when Hamilton got yet another goal from a peanlty the result was assured. Crossing over, Willesden had the best of a scrambling second half, during which two penalty kicks were awarded them. Caldwell sent the first ouside the post, but Archer, the captain and goalkeeper met his vis-a-vis, Cotton, on the second occasion and scored amid a round of applause from the thin ranks of supporters. The only redeeming feature of a dull and uninteresting game was the glut of goals in the opening few minutes, although the heavy condition of the ground and the drizzling rain no doubt had a deterrent effect upon the players.
