Bobby Ferguson's Testimonial Match on Monday 13 April drew an attendance of nearly 9,000 for the game against Southampton. The weather was on the chilly side, but the soccer generated plenty of excitement.

The Saints went two up before we scored, and added another before the interval. The second half saw a change of fortune, and the Hammers eventually triumphed by 4-3. Bobby celebrated the occasion by converting a penalty awarded for hands.

The style that has brought the second division title to Upton Park delighted the onlookers in Guernsey as the Hammers scored a 2-0 win over the Guernsey select team.
West Ham, enjoying an end of season break in the holiday island entertained the 2,500 crowd with some impressive attacking football.
Although missing key players because of international calls and injuries the Hammers showed their class with Young England choice Paul Goddard putting them ahead.
Efforts from Dave Cross, Alan Devonshire and Stuart Pearson tested the home 'keeper before Frank Lampard netted the second goal.
Manager John Lyall missed the Hammers trip to the Channel Islands. He went to Holland where the Hammers Youth team were playing in an international Youth tournament.
Lyall also took advantage of the trip to watch some Dutch League football, keeping an eye on any available talent to boost the Hammers squad.
