Playing smarter football in attack, West Ham Reserves gained a deserved victory over Brentford Reserves. Two goals in the first 25 minutes gave them a winning advantage. The first came after 18 minutes play when E. Chapman, a 15-year-old ex-Ilford schoolboy, who is on Hammers' office staff, headed through neatly from a capital centre by Woodgate. Gore secured the second goal seven minutes later with a shot from the edge of the penalty area, which the goalkeeper should have saved. Five minutes before the interval Dyson scored the third with a shot that went in off the post, and West Ham led by three goals at the change over.
Brentford did better after the interval, but they spoilt most of their approach work by poor finishing. After half an hour Dyson scored the fourth goal for the Hammers, after the Brentford goalkeeper had partially smothered a shot from chapman, and a few minutes later Farelly netted Brentford's solitary point.

Saunders, Oliver, Anderson, Gibbons, Waddell, Longden, Stevens, Heale, Farelly, Holliday, Kay
