Custom House made rather an inauspicious start in their opening London League match at Bingley Road. West Ham Reserves beating them by 3-1 The amateurs played sparkling football in the early stages, and actually took the lead soon after the start, a capital cross shot from H. Smith, at left-half, beating West Ham's custodian. The visitors drew level as the result of a solo effort by Butcher, and Just before half-time they took the lead through Burton. Burrill, the ex-South Weald centre-forward, on resuming dispatched a fine centre by Caton into the net.

While the first eleven became victims of the elements in the Midlands the Hammers reserve XI staged a London League game.
Waltham held their own to half-time and began the second period at 1-1.
The latter half proved a disaster for Waltham as Hammers piled in 8 more goals.
Morfee the Kent fast bowler had a trial in this game for West Ham.
Puddefoot scored 5 of the goals, Morfee, Mackesy and Dawson added to the goal scored by Chapman in the first half. Gibbons and Bates got the Waltham goals.
