The enterprise of the District Railway who ran cheap trains between Putney and Upton Park enabled a large following of Fulham supporters to make the trip to West Ham. At 5:15 when a start was made rain was falling heavily. Mackie got the only goal in the 25th minute.

This Western League competition recently slated by the critics who say players seem to lack interest didn't see this game. The statement did not apply here.
Reading kicked off facing a glaring sun. Play was sometimes over-keen and the referee sometimes had to intervene. Hammers made an opening but Bridgeman was offside. Hilsdon then hit the bar. Kitchen left his goal and run out to kick clear the ball came back quicker than he had anticipated and Jackson only just scrambled back to head clear. All was offside in a dangerous Reading raid. Bridgeman then missed a Featherstone cross but Watson was handy to make it 1-0. A few minutes later Hilsdon was fouled by Brown in the box. Hilsdon himself scored with the spot kick. Reading's lone goal was aslo from a penalty - Leonard got it.

Played in unfavourable conditions. The players were frequently drowned by heavy showers of sleet. Jeffries put Saints ahead when his shot went in off a post. After trailing for a long period Watson levelled the scores 10 minutes from the end.
