Abandoned : Rain 45 minutes

Heavy rain fell all day Sunday and made the pitch very muddy. Further rain on Monday made it almost unplayable but a start was made. A new face in the West Ham side was local-lad Birnie at outside-right. The rain got so bad that the referee suspended play for 7 minutes in the first half. At half-time West Ham had a goal-lead.
Walton collided with Eccles was badly dazed  but Pluckily continued. He later left the field and did not return.
Birnie shot, from outside right, straight at Williams, who got the ball a few yards away; Lyon shot again, and once more the ball came out from the 'Spurs' goalkeeper. This time Watts came up and rushed the ball into the net.
While the players were in the dressing room the rain was still coming down hard, referee J. Tillottson decided that further play was impossible and abandoned the match. Under Western League rules the match will have to be replayed in full.

Match Void

West Ham United allowed Queens Park Rangers to sub a player, but the league later ordered the match to be replayed. Interestingly the player who was used as the Rangers' "substitute" was William Yenson who played for the Hammers before and after his QPR spell.

Shortly after the start the home side got away, and in a short time a scrimmage was taking place in front of the Rovers' goal, but their custodian, cartledge, promptly fisted away. The ball was, however, smartly returned by Eccles and another scrimmage occurred in the course of which 'hands' was claimed and a penalty given for West Ham. Allison took it and scored, despite the fact that Cartledge managed to touch and slightly divert the course of the ball. the Rovers then tried hard to equalise, but were unsuccessful, Griffiths giving a fine display of goal-keeping. Jack and Elmore, however, worked hard for the visitors, and the latter had really hard luck in striking the post and the ball rebounding into play. Then satterthwaite and Church got away, and some brilliant passing by the Hammers' forwards resulted in Lyons scoring again for the local players, who crossed over leading by two goals to nil. Nothing was done in the second half, and West ham won by two goals to nil.
