From the turn of the 20th Century, right up until the 1930/31 season, the London Professional Charity Fund match was a regular feature in the West Ham United fixture calendar. Organised by the London FA these fundraiser matches for local good causes was a one-off match from a 12 team entry, the winning teams from each of the six matches played would receive a medal. This gold medal match was contested in South London, a Daniel Bailey goal settled the match, 1-0 in favour of the Hammers.

With the end of the First World War and the return of the Football League programme of fixtures, the Combination was now competed for by 'Reserve' teams. West Ham United's Reserves' end their 36 game campaign as League champions with 49 points from second place Queens Park Rangers with forty-five points,
