The 2022-23 Under-18 Premier League is the 11th campaign of the top tier of the Under-18 Development League. A total of 26 teams are split regionally into north and south leagues. Teams face their regional opponents both home and away before the top two face each other to determine the national champion. Manchester City are the defending champions. Birmingham City, Burnley and Reading lost Category One status in the summer of 2022 and no longer take part in this competition.

Callum Marshall’s hat-trick inspired West Ham United U18s to a thrilling 3-2 comeback win over Crystal Palace in their opening Premier League U18s South fixture of the 2022/23 season.
Despite a bright start, the young Hammers found themselves two goals down inside 15 minutes. Freddie Bell capitalised on a rebound to curl home the opener, and Junior Dixon doubled Palace’s lead soon after with a composed finish. West Ham responded with determination. George Earthy and Marshall combined well but were denied by Palace keeper Jackson Izquierdo. Persistent pressure paid off just before half-time when Marshall converted a penalty to give Kevin Keen’s side hope.
Nine minutes into the second half, Marshall struck again - stretching to meet Scarles’ driven cross after a slick move down the left. Palace threatened late on, with Mason Terry making a crucial save to deny Adler Nascimento. In the dying moments, Earthy threaded a perfect pass to Marshall, who rifled home the winner to complete his hat-trick and spark jubilant celebrations. Terry preserved the lead with another fine stop from Hindolo Mustapha’s volley.
Lead coach Kevin Keen praised the team’s resilience and togetherness: “We knew Palace would be tough—they’ve been one of the best sides in recent years. To come back like that, in the heat, and play such good football was fantastic.” He reserved special praise for Marshall: “Callum’s a natural goalscorer, but it’s his work rate and team ethic that stand out. He’s loved by the lads and has settled in brilliantly.” Keen added: “It’s only one game, but it’s a great start. If we keep playing like that, the results will follow.”
