Hammers opened their FA Premier Youth Academy League Under-19s fixtures with a fine win over Liverpool at Purfleet.
For the first 15 minutes the visitors looked the more likely to open the scoring as the Hammers found it difficult to settle.
But 10 minutes before half-time, Hammers took the lead when Daniel Sjolund knocked the ball to Louis Riddle, whose first-time pass split Liverpool's defence and putJermain Defoe through to score. After 55 minutes, Defoe took possession from a throw-in on the left and his 20 yard shot whizzed under the Liverpool 'keeper's body to increase the lead.
With three minutes left, Louis Riddle ensured the three points with a 30 yards scorcher that flew into the net.

This FA Youth Premier Academy League Under-"19s game at Wilford Lane was a lot closer than the final scoreline suggests.
In fact, the Hammers almost went ahead in the 1 2th minute when a shot from Amos Foyewa was blocked on the line. This led to two corners. Following the second of these, Forest broke away and the pace of Westcarr left the West Ham defence stranded as he rounded Billy McMahon to put the home side ahead. On 20 minutes Forest went further ahead when Turner ran down the left flank and his cross was met perfectly by Reid in the centre.
Ten minutes later, Forest were three up when Westcarr's right-wing cross found Reid to score his second of the game. From the
kick-off Foyewa pulled one back for the Hammers.
Early on in the second-half, West Ham were getting on top and some good chances fell to Louis Riddle. A goal for the Hammers at that stage would have put pressure on the Forest defence but the chances were missed and the home side scored two late goals through Westcarr and Bopp.

Jermain Defoe hit all four goals as the Hammers Under-19s bounced back from the previous week's heavy defeat away at Nottingham Forest.
Defoe struck after just six minutes when he hit a thunderous shot past Villa 'keeper Myhill from just inside the box. On 21 minutes Louis Riddle collected Daniel Sjolund's quickly-taken free-kick and passed a square ball to Defoe who scored from eight yards.
Villa pulled one back just after the restart but Defoe completed his hat-trick on 50 minutes and then added his fourth seven minutes later. Jermain was on fire and almost added a fifth and Dean Smith then saw his late effort turned on to the crossbar by Myhill.

The Hammers had a great chance to go ahead early on but Daniel Sjolund's shot was well saved by Coventry 'keeper Montgomery. Then on 17 minutes Glen Johnson pulled down Gallreri just inside the box and Strachan converted the spot-kick to give Sky Blues a half-time lead.
After the break it was all West Ham but they failed to convert any of the chances created until a free-kick on the right, taken by Louis Riddle, found Anwar U'ddin on the far post and his header from close-range gave Montgomery no chance.

Hammers took a first minute lead when a Dean Smith cross was spectacularly converted by Finnish midfielder Daniel Sjolund. Ten minutes later Jermain Defoe, playing against his former club, was felled in the box but his spot-kick was saved. But on 27 minutes Defoe atoned for his penalty miss by chipping the advancing 'keeper Brown. Just before half-time, Charlton's Greenaway headed past Joe Sealey from close-range. After the break, the game fizzled out as Charlton packed their midfield.

A Hammers side missing Daniel Sjolund, on duty with Finland's Under-21 s and Jermain Defoe, chosen for England's European Under-18 Championship matches, slipped to defeat at Birmingham.
Although Blues had most of the early play in the first-half, Joe Sealey didn't have a shot to save until they went ahead through Sabathier in the 35th minute following a corner-kick.
It was a different story after the break with the Hammers well on top as they pressed for an equaliser. But that left us vulnerable on the break and Blues clinched victory when Gilbert outjumped the Hammers defence from another corner to make it 2-0.

Two goals by Hammers Finnish Under-21 international striker Daniel Sjolund earned the Hammers a deserved victory against Crystal Palace at Chadwell Heath.
It was the Under-19s first game since losing to Fulham on 28th October, but they quickly got into their stride. Amos Foyewa wasted a good chance to put the Hammers ahead after just a few minutes when he headed wide from James Allen's cross. On eight minutes, Foyewa was chopped down in the area. He took the penalty himself and the Palace 'keeper saved it but could only push the ball into the path of Sjolund who made no mistake with the rebound.
Foyewa had a hand in Sjolund's second three minutes later and a Palace own-goal by their defender Rowland gave the Hammers a comfortable 3-0 lead at the break.
In the second-half, Hammers 'keeper Billy McMahon dived to his right to make a brilliant save from Elsegood, but later dropped the ball at the feet of Williams to gift Palace a consolation goal.

The youth-team overwhelmed Southend at Upton Park to progress to the Fourth Round of the Axa The Times FA Youth Cup.
Glen Johnson was the hero with a glorious first-half hat-trick - all headed goals from set-pieces.
The first two were from corners, with Johnson heading home from the edge of the box to open the scoring after just two minutes. Seven minutes later he scored his second with an almost identical goal and completed his hat-trick on 30 minutes with a diving header almost on the penalty-spot from a Daniel Sjolund free-kick 30 yards out.
Johnson almost grabbed a fourth following a Hammers corner early in the second-half. Then the Shrimpers fougjit back with a determined display but were denied goals by three superb Billy McMahon saves.

Hammers Under-19s had to settle for a share of the points after going ahead three times against Chelsea in a match played under difficult weather conditions at Ford Sports & Social Club, Newbury Park.
A high wind and pouring rain made it tough going for both teams but the weather played a significant part in Hammers opening goal with Louis Riddle's free-kick soaring over a crowd of players and into the net as the Chelsea 'keeper lost his footing.
Chelsea equalised early in the second-half with a wind-assisted shot from 25 yards out, but Hammers regained the lead seconds after the restart. A long throw-in was flicked on to the far post, where Riddle ghosted in for his second. But Blues equalised again with a scrappy shot which dribbled slowly past 'keeper Joe Sealey and into the net.
West Ham appeared to have won the game when Steven Clark was brought down in the penalty-area and rammed home the spot-kick himself. But Blues equalised ten minutes from the end when a shot on the turn beat Sealey.

A superb strike from Emmanuel Cascione just six minutes from time clinched all three points for West Ham in a thrilling encounter against a committed Wimbledon outfit.
Wimbledon took the lead on fifty two minutes, a lofted centre into the penalty area was finger tipped onto the cross bar as Billy McMahon scurred back only for him to go to ground allowing Badger to pounce as the ball rebounded into play.
The Hammers responded well and on fifty-seven minutes Cascione's flighted flag kick was met by Louis Riddle who twisted and glanced home into the far corner of the net through a crowded goalmouth to equalise.
With time running out U';ddin sent Steve Clark away with a pass to perfection. Clark held off a challenge and sent over a cross that carved open the Wimbledon defence for Emmanuel Cascione to race off and finish with perfection.

Hammers midfield completely dominated at Tottenham as the Under-19s ended their programme for the year in fine style.
Emmanuel Cascione, Leon Britton and French triallist Ludvik Norbert combined well and created many problems for a strong Spurs side.
Amos Foyewa made the first goal in the 38th minute when he cut inside from the wing and crossed for Cascione to head past Tottenham 'keeper Attwell.
Hammers scored their second three minutes after the break when Louis Riddle swept the ball across the box for Dean Smith to turn into the net. Only a great save by Attwell a few minutes later prevented Smith scoring his second, but he could do little to stop a spectacular Cascione scissors-kick flashing past him into the net on 73 minutes.
Riddle scored Hammers fourth five minutes from the end after Joe Sealey's long clearance had found Foyewa in space.

Despite putting the league leaders QPR under a great deal of early pressure, Hammers fell behind to an unfortunate own goal. Following a corner on the right, 'keeper Billy McMahon tipped the ball on to Dean Cleaver's shoulder and it rebounded into the net.
Hammers, who continued to press, suffered another blow on 30 minutes when the hard-working Dean Smith was carried off with a badly gashed leg.
Just after the break Louis Riddle missed a good chance to level the scores before Rangers went further ahead. Hammers gave the ball away on the halfway line and Brady outpaced the defence before shooting across McMahon into the corner of the net.
Kes Metitiri made his Under-19s debut and was praised by coach Tony Carr who said: "Kes emerged from the game with credit and showed a lot of composure.
"We didn't play as well as we could, and the manner of both goals was disappointing because we had possession both times and they caught us out of position," Tony continued. "We hit a post and the bar so the scoreline doesn't tell the whole story."

Hammers missed several good scoring chances to have settled this match at Upton Park and earn a Fifth Round home tie against Arsenal. For the first half-an-hour, James Allen caused all sorts of problems down the right flank. In the 9th minute his centre was met by skipper Leon Britton and his shot was well-saved by Oldham 'keeper Tom Whittle. A few minutes later, Allen took a free-kick on the right and the ball found Freddy Eastwood who headed just over the bar.
On 23 minutes, following a great run by Louis Riddle, Britton shot just over on the volley.
From the goal-kick Oldham forced their first corner of the game and the resulting cross was tipped over by Billy McMahon. Hammers continued to create chances against a strong, very hard-working Oldham side, managed oy former Hammers striker David 'Psycho' Cross. The best opportunity of the game fell to Manny Cascione in the 59th minute. Put clean through with only Whittle to beat, the talented Italian clipped the ball just wide of the far post.
England youth international Glen Johnson was outstanding at the back for the Hammers, particularly in the last 15 minutes when Oldham put our defence under enormous pressure as they went all out for me winner. Then in the last minute a free-kick taken by Allen was headed over by Dean Cleaver.

A Hammers Under-19 side looking for their first FA Premier Academy League points of the year were soundly beaten by Chelsea, at Cobham in Surrey.
It took Blues just four minutes to open the scoring, when a powerful Thornton shot from the right went in at the far post beyond the diving Billy McMahon in the Hammers goal.
Chelsea scored again on 26 minutes when Dean Cleaver's free-kick was headed clear to Pitt who outpaced Glen Johnson to beat the Hammers 'keeper.
A minute before half-time, a Louis Riddle pass found Moses Jjunju who turned his marker and shot home. Chelsea restored their two goal advantage two minutes after the break when Keenham scored following a goalmouth scramble. Hammers suffered another blow when Cleaver had to go off with a chest injury.
Jjunju was unlucky to see a shot scrape the post and a fine Sam Taylor drive from 20 yards was tipped over the bar before a Pitt cross from the left was met by Jeffrey to make it four for Chelsea in the 64th minute. Lita added number five in the 83rd minute leaving the Hammers a well-beaten side.

This replay at Boundary Park followed a disappointing 0-0 draw at Upton Park and the result means that Oldham now meet Arsenal at home in the next round.
Hammers faced an even bigger battle when James Allen was sent-off after just 10 minutes. Allen touched the ball following a needlessly conceded corner and the referee awarded a penalty and sent him off.
Hammers conceded a second from a free-kick and then Oldham made it three when 'keeper Joe Sealey allowed a harmless looking shot to go through his legs.
After the break, the Hammers put Oldham under early pressure and it came as no surprise when Glen Johnson scored. Then, following an own-goal by an Oldham defender, plus another goal for the home side, the Hammers pressed hard to score again and Louis Riddle and Dean Smith went close - but unfortunately not close enough.
Said coach Tony Carr: "If we had made it 4-3 I really think we would have forced extra-time. But we've had the glory in the past, now we must take this knock-back and learn from our mistakes."

Despite dominating this Under-19s FA Academy League game, played at Tottenham's Chigwell training ground, a missed penalty and a last minute goal had the Hammers reeling.
Steven Clark, who as a stand-in striker had been impressive throughout, blasted the 26 minute spot-kick wide of the target and missed the opportunity of putting the Hammers level after Leon Britton had been hauled down in the box. Against the run of play Spurs had taken the lead on 15 minutes when a corner from the right was headed past 'keeper Glenn Jackson by Boditch at the near post.
Shortly after the break, Clark appeared to be brought down in the penalty-area himself but the referee harshly denied him the opportunity of making amends for his earlier missed spot-kick.
Hammers equalised on the hour when Louis Riddle's cutback from the byline was turned into his own net by a Spurs defender.
Riddle and Daryl McMahon both went close before a minute from the end Spurs snatched their late winner. Jackson failed to gather a cross under pressure and the ball was played back across goal for an unmarked Burnard to turn it into the net.
