West Ham United
The American, Chicago based Wrigley Company was founded in 1891 and originally sold products that included such items as soap and baking powder. The company began packaging chewing gum with each can of baking powder. The chewing gum eventually became more popular than the baking powder itself and Wrigley’s reoriented the company to produce the popular chewing gum. The UK subsidiary company based in Plymouth produced their leading PK brand Chewing Gum. In 1983 they issued free with their family packs the “PK Football Facts” card. One card for each of the 22 First Division sides competing in the 1983-84 season, although only 19 have been recorded. Facts recorded on the cards include, Year formed, Ground name, Record attendance, Record win, Nickname and Manager. These cards are now highly sought after and command the princely sum of £25.
