Millwall Juniors visited our Chadwell Heath Ground for the second successive Saturday. They had lost a friendly there by five clear goals on the first occasion, but although they managed to net a couple this time they conceded another quintet to lose their Division II Cup match. We had a completely new line-up of under-17's on view as compared with last season's XI, only one (Joe Durrell) being an apprentice. They gave a good all-round show, and several show a lot of promise.

Our Juniors had a remarkable match against Millwall in the Second Division Cup tournament, for in a game that brought five penalty kick awards the Hammers scored twice from the spot whilst the Lions missed three times!
In a dual of wildly-fluctuating fortune this had a considerable effect, as we were in arrears at 0-1 and 1-2 before hitting back to take an interval lead of 3-2, this was increased to 5-2 before the home side reduced the margin three minutes from time to make the final tally 5-3 in our favour.

Despite the exceptionally poor weather conditions last Monday evening, we eventually played off the twice-postponed second leg of the 1967-68 Final of the London Youth Cup (Junior Section).

In a good game our youngsters took a 2-0 margin over Chelsea Juniors, and although the visitors fought hard we were worthy winners by a 3-1 aggregate.

The Juniors have now almost ended their Division II Cup qualifying tourney, and are virtually certain to be in the semi-final play-offs. They started on their League schedule at Cheshunt, but Spurs Juniors were stronger in the second half and netted both goals to earn the points.

After a slow start in the Second Division of the South East Counties League our under-17's evened their record with a double victory over Charlton Athletic Juniors. They followed a 4-0 away victory with a 4-1 home sucess, netting two in the first ten minutes and repeating this in the last ten.

The youngest of the Hammers' five teams scored a resounding 5-0 win over Orient Juniors here on March 3rd in the Semi-Final of the London Youth Cup (Junior Section). Unfortunately the game did not receive much advance publicity owing to the complexity of fixture arrangements, but those who arrived saw a fine performance by the Hammers.

The visit to Greenwich did not go at all well, and we went under by 1-4 to Millwall. We did alright in midfield, but the defence gifted three goals to the opposition following bad covering from corner-kicks.

We sustained a 'double reverse' against the Spurs at Chadwell Heath, the Division I team losing by 2-3 at Cheshunt and the Juniors being defeated 3-5 in the Second Division match at Chadwell Heath. The Juniors were leading 2-0 until nearly a quarter-of-an-hour after the interval, but conceded five goals in 27 minutes, to a side whose physical strength eventually proved decisive in heavy conditions.

We met Orient Juniors for the fourth time this season in this Easter game. O's won by 2-1 to make the count two games all - with another yet to come! This made our record four points from seven games - not as well as we did in the Division II Cup table!

The Hammers Junior side against Chelsea in the second leg of the London Youth Cup (Junior Section) Final contained 'only one apprentice - Joe Durrell. The remaining ten were amateurs and against them the Blues fielded nine apprentices. With the score tied at 1-1 on the first leg the odds seemed loaded in favour of the West Londoners on the basis of experience, but the Hammers put up a magnificent show to win by 5 goals to 3, making it a 6-4 aggregate.
