A 3-0 victory in the afternoon completed a "double" over the Robins. This was our first venture in Division II of the SEC League, and our under-17's made a notable start to their season. Vince May and an "own goal" put us two up at the interval, Peter Camp scoring in the second half.

Chelsea were much too strong for our all-amateur XI. They included seven apprentices, three of whom are in their current Youth XI, and ended up winners by 7-0. Some bad errors in defence contributed to the Hammers' downfall, the Blues netting several goals from faulty clearances.

The league leaders got away to a three-goal lead in the first quarter-of-an-hour, but we reduced our arrears before half-time. Continuing their rally our youngsters kept the Glaziers at full stretch, and with a great show of spirit netted three in the second half to gain a 4-3 victory that robbed the Palace of the 100 per cent record they had notched in their first nine games.

Bill Butcher was our scorer in a fairly even game where Watford gained the points with a 2-1 final advantage. Ground conditions were very muddy and play tended to be somewhat scrappy.

This was a very good performance by our youngsters who scored a repeat win over the team which has led the table for a long spell. Jimmy Bean got our first counter ten minutes from half-time and we made the final count 2-0 with another in the second half from the same player. We had two triallist from Co. Durham - Gerald Jordan and Richard Huntley - and both did well.
