1946-47 Football Combination (Section B)
As the majority of its members now drawn from outside the capital with the inclusion of teams from as far afield as Bristol, Swansea and Bournemouth. This re-modelled Combination was the achievement of West Ham United chairman, Mr. W.J. Cearns, and the enthusiasm with which the project was acclaimed may be guaged by the number of clubs who applied for membership to the competition.
The leagues title was changed from the 'London Combination' to the 'Football Combination' and split into two sections 'A' and 'B'.

Congratulations to our Combination team on the smart win over the Pensioners' Reserves. On paper, Chelsea looked an imposing array of talent, several of them being seasoned First XI players. However, our lads set about their job with spirit not to be denied, and the final score in no way flattered them.

A lively Monday evening at Highbury set the stage for the London Challenge Cup Final, with West Ham United and Crystal Palace meeting on neutral turf for local bragging rights. The Hammers seized control early, Terry Woodgate finishing a well‑worked move before Dick Dunn doubled the advantage with a crisp strike just before the interval.
After the restart, Dunn struck again - a poacher’s finish that pushed the lead to 3–0 and seemed to put the contest beyond doubt. Palace, however, refused to fold. Kurz pulled one back from the penalty spot, and when Robson added a second, the momentum suddenly swung towards the South Londoners.
The closing minutes were tense, but West Ham dug in, saw off the late surge, and held firm to claim a hard‑earned 3–2 victory and lift the Cup.

Those supporters hardy enough to turn out were rewarded with a stirring contest, though they certainly earned their entertainment by braving the bleak, rain‑lashed conditions. The pitch grew heavier by the minute, yet we adapted well and looked to be cruising when a 4–1 lead was established.
That confidence was shaken, however, when Jack Yeomanson — making only his second appearance in claret and blue — was forced off through injury, leaving us to battle on with ten men. Coventry sensed their moment and pressed relentlessly, clawing their way back to level terms as the weather worsened and the pressure mounted. Three minutes from time, disaster threatened: Coventry were awarded a penalty, their chance to complete the comeback. But Gordon Harvey rose to the occasion magnificently, saving the spot‑kick and preserving a hard‑earned point.
It was the third penalty of a dramatic afternoon. George Proudlock had already converted both of ours, while J. Jordon — on his debut at inside‑right - marked the occasion in style with two well‑taken goals.

NO PROGRAMME ISSUED
The game against Millwall was originally scheduled for 8th February but was postponed in favour of the First team game against Newport County as the original date for that fixture was scheduled for 14 December was postponed because of Fog.
The Charlton game before this one was Postponed, it's most likely the printers thought this game 5 days later wouldn't take place (hence perhaps No programme !).
