1930-31 London Combination (Division One)

Although a London Combination Division Two had been formed there was no automatic promotion or relegation. This season also sees the Professional Clubs relaxation of the rigid rule that ordered clubs to field their recognised First Team players in the London Challenge Cup competition and going forward clubs were encouraged to field Reserve strength teams.

For the first time it was not compulsory to field a club's first XI in this competition.
In the match, a Goodacre back pass in the 40th minute was intercepted by Mills who put the visitors ahead. Barter was yards offside when he collected a Wilkins header and equalised in the 58th minute. Justice was done when Irving got Chelsea's winner, from the spot following a handling offence in the 70th minute.
