Hammers used the occasion to experiment with their side. It proved to be a satisfactory excercise Wilson on 35 minutes gave Spurs the lead. Watson levelled but a Clay penalty won Spurs the gold medals after Grimsdell was fouled.

Considering that all the players were under thirteen, the style of football displayed was remarkably good, contrasting well with some purposeless displays given in adult football. The Willesden biys were certainly not inferior in cleverness, in skill, or in dash, but they were inferior in stamina and weight. The size of the ground, and more especially the size of the crowd, semed to affect the away side more than it did West Ham. West Ham Boys scored two goals, following errors in defence, which they quickly seized upon. In the second half play was a bit more even. Martin of Stonebridge School, gave a capital exhibition in goal and Monk did very well indeed at centre half. Burley scored the third goal for West Ham. Following a hot shot, the West Ham goalie carried the ball, and from the resulting free kick, Ellis of Furness Road, scored the only Willesden goal.

The local lads have had their unbeaten record smashed on two ocassions within a week. They gave a sparkling display, but luck was against them. Greenwich were well served by their two backs, both of whom never hesitated to kick lustily when Hammers' forward line threatened. Soon after the start the visitors' goalie had a hot two minutes. Farra, Flower and Smith in turn putting in excellent drives. The forward line combined well, and Cawcutt made some beautiful openings as well as running through when ocassion offered. He was ably supported by Farra, who always appeared dangerous. On the other hand, Baker put a very weak finishing touch to a beautiful opening made for him. Greenwich quickly transferred the play, and Webb scored their only goal after about 25 minutes. The game was keenly contested from start to finish, and whilst congratulating the winners, a few words of praise are due to the Hammers for their very clean and clever display, which with ordinary luck, would have brought at least a draw.
