CENTRAL PARK SCHOOL (East Ham) v. PARK SCHOOL (West Ham)
Dewar Shield (Final Replay)
- 1 (a.e.t)

CENTRAL PARK SCHOOL (Everet, Gosling, Williams, Wright)

Everett, Hillman, Baxter, Sargent, Butt, Rawle, Cross, James, Wright, Williams, Gosling

PARK SCHOOL (Hounesome)

Barker, Rogers, Thompson, Doeking, Hounesome, Lark, Witts, Jackson, Barrett, Newell, Wood

Play ruled fast from the beginning, and a well-contested and spirited match was anticipated. East Hamm opened the attack, but Thompson relieved Inc pressure. and soon afterwards Everett twice saved in quick succession from Barrett. An attack was then initiated by Williams, and some pretty passing was witnessed between Gosling, Williams and Wright, who eventually put behind.

The international Barrett, repeatedly fed his wings, but he was well looked sifter by Butt, who stuck to him like a leech. Baxter was also noticeable for his fine tackling. A clever run by Gosling spoiled by his shooting straight at the goalkeeper. East Ham again attacked, but the play was soon transferred to near the other goal, and Everett twice saved magnificently by daringly running out of goal and falling at the feet of the opposing forward. However, it was from such a save that Hounesome obtained the ball and opened the scoring. Half-time came soon after with West Ham leading 1-0.

After the resumption it was seen that Everett and Rawle had changed their positions. East Ham now attacked hotly, and strenuous efforts were made to obtain an equaliser. West Ham then broke away, and a splendid centre from Witts was placed behind. East Ham now monopolised the game, and a sustained attack was made upon the West Ham goal, the forwards all combining beautifully. Shots were repeatedly fired into the goal, but the backs and goalkeeper put up a superb defence. Three corners were forced in quick succession, and it was from the last of these, accurately placed by Wright, that Everett eventually headed the long-expected goal, three minutes from time. Excitement now ran high, and Wright narrowly missed a winning goal in the last minute. The whistle blew with the score 1-1.
Extra time (ten minutes each way) was played. The West Ham boys had tired palpably. and now looked a well-beaten side. A fine touch by Williams to Gosling allowed the latter to run down and put in an oblique shot well out of the goalkeeper's reach. Williams and Wright added to the score, and East Ham ran out winners by 4-1. No praise could be too high for the West Ham defence, who gave a wonderful display. but the East Ham side were the better balanced team, and had the greater staying-power. Much credit is due to Cummins and Beal, trainers of Central Park and Park respectively for their splendid work in training the two best teams in London. Central Park School can claim to be only school to have won this Dewar Shield, three times.
