The South-Eastern League game at Griffin Park, Brentford, yesterday, in which the reserves of Brentford and West ham United opposed, resulted in drawn game with nothing scored. It was somewhat curious that, although it was the home team that were generally the aggressors in the first half, it was tlieir goalkeeper, Price, who was the more often tested. The West Ham forwards finished better on the occasions they did get away than those of Brentford. Whiteman made one very fine attempt to give the visitors the lead, but at the opposite end the best effort was made by Wicks, the centre half. Byrnes badly at fault one occasion when he had only Carter to beat from about six yards' range After ends had been changed with nothing scored, West Ham had much the Letter of matters, but their shots were all too high. Fells was playing a good game at left back for the home team, but once Butcher looked all over a scorer for the visitors, only to find Price save cleverly at the expense of a corner, and once Mackesy missed by inches only.

A remarkably fast and interesting game resulted from meeting of these teams at the Boleyn Castle, when the Hammers won somewhat luckily by two goals to love. The smaller West Ham men were particularly smart in front of goal, and it was this invaluable asset which secured them the victory. In the first few minutes the Hammers were distinctly unlucky in failing to score when Denyer hit the crossbar, but the same remark applied to the visitors, who had a point by Spittle disallowed owing to Burrell apparently unintentionally handling the ball a moment before. A noticeable feature of the game was the superb understanding between the visitors, but the Hammers' defence - strengthened by the inclusion of A. Barclay, the Brentford amateur - was great, and successfully resisted all attacks. Five minutes from the interval Wilson beat out a shot from Denyer to the foot of Casey, who had no difficulty in opening the scoring. Two minutes after the resumption the Hammers went down with irresistible dash, and Butcher gave Burrill a grand opening, which was promptly turned to advantage. Subsequently the Arsenal struggled desperately to reduce their liabilities, Calder and Grant playing splendidly but Carter kept a superb goal.

West Ham Reserves entertained Chelsea, before a large crowd, and retired defeated after an excellent contest by two goals to one. The Chelsea front line showed some splendid form during the first half, but fine goalkeeping by Carter stood between them and success. Nothing was scored up till half-time, but there had been some very exciting exchanges, both goals having narrow escapes. In the second half the chelsea forwards were persistent in their attacks, and they were rewarded by two goals from the foot of Brown. They were good value for their goals, but before the finish Redward reduced the margin.

The visitors reserves were two down before Dawson reduced the deficit before the break. This was Syd Puddefoot's first match in a West Ham shirt.
The two goal difference was restored by Hoult, the Hammers were behind 1-3 with only 20 minutes to go, but then 3 quick goals, Puddefoot 2, and Butcher clinched the points for West Ham.

By special permission a late start was made due to Royalty making a visit to the neighbourhood. The game was very physical and two or three players could have been sent off. The visitors started the horse-play but the Hammers readily took up the challenge. Neither side deserved a point, King missed a first half penalty when Forester fouled Freeman. Hughes tipped the spot kick over the bar.

Moule the Catford Southend amateur centre-forward assisted Hammers in this game. He didn't score but had a capital game. His distribution was admirable. West Ham were two goals ahead at half-time through Caton and Butcher. In the second half Butcher got two more, Mackesy one and Dawson two, Miller notched Brighton's only score
